To: Ms. Samantha Power

US Ambassador to the United Nations

799 UN Plaza

E-mail: powers@state.gov

New York, NY 10017-3505

Fax: 212-415-4443

Dear Madam Ambassador

I am writing you this letter because of a grave concern I have regarding what is currently happening in Ethiopia. Innocent kids, youth, old men and women of Amhara, Oromo and other ethnic groups are being killed, tortured and imprisoned just for demanding equal rights. I am asking you to please use all your power and stop the genocide that is being committed by the government targeting specific ethnic groups.

Madame Ambassador, as you have firsthand experience in covering war crimes and human right abuses in other parts of the world. You should be familiar with what the Ethiopian ethnocracy government is doing to poor Ethiopians. By definition “acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group” constitutes genocide, and that is exactly what is happening in Ethiopia now.

In recent memories, the US and international community looked the other way when diplomatic and relatively minor military help could have saved so many innocent people in a genocide perpetrated against Tutsi ethnic groups in Rwanda. At the time, while a lot of people have expressed their concern, it was considered as a marginal problem by our leaders.

So please do not ignore this urgent matter and act right now before it is too late for so many helpless mothers, sons, daughters, and grandparents who have no one to protect them and are under a merciless tyranny.

Sincerely,
