Rename the UK Aardland

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is about to undergo great constitutional upheaval. The vote to leave the EU leaves us in a position of facing great challenges and opportunities. Key amongst all of these is the question of "what is our role in the world?"

There is only one answer to this question - we are at the very top of the world. We were the first country to globalise - as demonstrated this over the last several centuries with our military, economic, and cultural subjugation of lesser countries. We continue it to this day by our insistence of being a nuclear power (aka global willy waving).

Despite the rather pathetic attempts of the US, Russia, China, India, and all the other upstarts, we still know we are number one. In every way except one ...

You know when you do a thing online - perhaps it's shopping, signing up for a social media account, or giving online feedback to a company and you have to pick a country? Yes, you know what I mean. Where are we? We're under U. Miles down in the alphabet. It takes ages to scroll down through all those lesser countries to find us. This in no way reflects our true standing in the world. It needs to, and it must, change.

So now is the time. The time to rise up. To not ask what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country (or devolved part thereof, with the current state of devolution to be uncertain to say the least).

Despite all of the uncertainty in the world, we have one thing we can control - the name of our country. And we can make it the first country. Vote here to change our country's name from United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (let's face it - it's a bit of a mouthful) to Aardland and reclaim our rightful number one listing in the world (and save all that bothersome web page scrolling).

Brothers, sisters, trans, Englanders, Scotlanders, Welshlanders, Irelandlanders, and all others - Are you with me!
