<p>The residents of Mt Greenwood, Beverly, and supporters of Blue Lives Matter reject racism and any racist or hateful comments that were made at recent rallies. The members of this community are decent, hardworking people, that support the men and women who risk their lives daily to protect the citizens of the City of Chicago. This entire community should not be held accountable for the hateful and racist speech by a very small minority of individuals who do not represent the values of our community. There is a large number of policemen, firemen, and city workers that live in this community who were offended by comments made by Black Lives Matter protesters, which included chants of "CPD", "KKK", and "How many kids have you killed today". Offensive signs were held and the American flag was displayed upside down. We love this country and our neighborhood and respect the 1st Amendment rights of protesters. However, we reject the hateful speech and rhetoric directed at the hard working officers that live in this community. We call on the media to report equally the hateful and insulting speech directed at our community by protesters and to not label our entire community as racist due to the words and actions of a few. We will continue to support this community and the hard working men and women in blue that risk their lives daily to protect this city.</p>
