DON'T TOW THE MAIDEN! Parking Restriction...

<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>SUMMARY</strong></span></p><p>We, the undersigned, call on the City of Atlanta, Office of Transportation to change the impending Parking Restrictions on Maiden Lane from No Parking on either side of the street to&nbsp;<strong>Parking restricted to only ONE&nbsp;side of the street</strong>.</p><p><em>This would provide parking that is vital to the residents AND&nbsp;allow safe passage of emergency vehicles.</em></p><p><strong>PARKING RESTRICTED TO ONLY <u>ONE SIDE</u> OF THE STREET</strong></p><p><strong>CALL <u>AND</u> EMAIL </strong>to request this revision to the regulation</p><p><em><strong>Calvin Watts, Office of Transportation:&nbsp;<a href="mailto:clwatts@atlantaga.gov">clwatts@atlantaga.gov</a> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;404-546-6216</strong></em></p><p><em>*Copy our City Councilman on your email to make sure we are heard!*</em></p><p><em><strong>Alex Wan, District 6 City Councilman:&nbsp;<a href="mailto:awan@atlantaga.gov">awan@atlantaga.gov</a> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;404-330-6049</strong></em></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>COMMUNITY&nbsp;IMPACT</strong></span></p><p>The impending new parking restrictions on the 800 block of Maiden Lane between Bonaventure Avenue Ne and Barnett Street NE will have dramatic impact on the community by:</p><ol><li>Removing the parking spaces necessary to accommodate the twenty-five or more&nbsp;resident vehicles that currently park on Maiden Lane. &nbsp;</li><li>Creating a hostile environment by&nbsp;forcing&nbsp;an additional twenty-five cars&nbsp;to compete for an inadequate number of parking spaces in&nbsp;a highly-populated area with already congested streets.&nbsp;</li><li>Comprising the safety of the residents&nbsp;that are&nbsp;mostly&nbsp;young professionals/young families by putting them in the position to be walking blocks to or from their cars after dark. &nbsp;With the significant number of vagrants that have been displaced due to the closing of the homeless shelter on the neighboring block, the high crime rate&nbsp;in&nbsp;the area is a major concern.</li></ol><p>&nbsp;</p><p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>SOLUTION</strong></span></p><p>The residents acknowledge that currently, emergency vehicles could not maneuver through the street with cars parked on both sides of Maiden Lane.</p><p>A revision of the impending regulation change is requested as indicated below.</p><ul><li>Current Impending Regulation: No Parking on Either Side of Maiden Lane</li><li><strong>Revision Proposed: Parking Restricted to Only One Side of Maiden Lane</strong></li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>This would provide parking that is vital to the residents&nbsp;AND&nbsp;allow safe passage of emergency vehicles.</strong></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p>
