We, concerned Nigerians in the business community is petitioning Facebook to speed up the process and approval for Nigerians to use Direct Debit for Facebook Ads in Nigeria Naira.

According to Facebook last report, Nigeria's monthly active users (MAU) have grown to 16-million (from 15-million) which is a 6.67% increase, as of the first quarter of 2016. A year later, with this huge number, Nigerians still find it difficult to connect to the audience they have built on Facebook after spending time and money due to Ads payment issue.

Facebook supports direct debit payments for Ads in some countries excluding Nigeria. They do support PayPal and numerous credit cards or co-branded debit cards as payment options for Facebook Ads.

Facebook is also now displaying advert rates for pages and businesses in Naira and accept manual payment for ads with Local Credit Cards? This of course have proved to be just figure display as actual charges are different from what is showing on Facebook page.

However, due to CBN banking reform, foreign transaction is technically disabled on Naira Debit/Credit Card from most banks. In addition, for those that allows, there is a $100 monthly spending limit.

Facebook claims they are working to expand their payment options, but don't have a date for when they may offer additional payment methods. The purpose of this petition is to compel Facebook to speed up the process and approval for Nigerians to use Direct Debit for Facebook Ads in the country currency, Naira.

The Need For This Petition

Scarce Forex has forced many banks to suspend or disable international transaction on Naira Debit and Credit cards.

The high exchange rate has discouraged many including small business owner from opening a domiciliary account that will enable them obtain a dollar credit card.

The maximum $100 dollar monthly spending has come short of company budget thereby making them miss their marketing goals and objectives.

Millions of Nigerians use Facebook everyday to source for products and services.

Many small and medium business owners rely on Facebook Ads to get the word out about their business as they cannot afford Television or media Advert.

As rate of unemployment remains at an all-time high, millions of Nigerian youths are turning to internet micro jobs that requires some forms of online advert to make a earning.

So, we concerned Nigerians in the business community are petitioning Facebook to look for alternative payment options that will enable the use of Nigeria currency as displayed on the Ad budget without resulting to dollar charges.
