In 2002, President George W. Bush passed the NCLB Act to increase student’s scores. The NCLB Act would measure the students’ performance with standardized tests, and if the schools failed then they would have to change the school’s structure and/or staff. Overall, the NCLB Act was suppose to be a step forward to increase education and to make sure every school was doing its job. But it did not do that, the NCLB Act hurt the American education system because it has widened the gap between the schools and it has made education an undesired career. That has happened because it made standardized testing (that have errors) mandatory, it punishes the schools that did not meet the requirements, and it caused many teachers to be: fired, quit or be replaced, and it left children years behind their actual grade level. This petition is to repeal the NCLB Act and find a better way to test a child's ability
