Not having salary caps allows the best players to choose where they want to play for the most money. Salary caps are not fair to the athletes because they are the reason for revenue brought in to the team.

Having a salary cap on professional athletes could set a precedent for other careers that could directly affect everyone. Who’s to say that once every one finds it acceptable to place a salary cap on someone’s career that salary caps won’t be placed on doctors, surgeons, lawyers, police or firemen? All of these careers are similar to professional athletes in the fact that their pay is directly based on performance. The more skilled and better performance equals better pay. Keeping this in mind, if a salary cap is placed on these careers then performance and skill could be affected in a negative manner.
