<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Wild Horse Criterium has just completed a two year investigation into the welfare of the horses used in a group of events.</span></p><p>What is its scenario. participant have three minutes in which to chase, catch and attempt to lead a brumby while on horseback.</p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Wild Horse Catch or similar events are not declared as prohibited or defined as an event according to the definition of a riding broncos in all States or defined under either animal welfare legislations and are that is why held under status legally or illegally. </span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">These Brumby/Wild Horse Catch events because of the trauma that can be painful on the wild horses simply by exposing them to such a stressful process & situation or dreadful environment, but even we are shocked by the treatment of these animals. With many Brumbies witnessed as being injured and pregnant in these events. </span></p><p> </p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Unexpectedly, the ridden horses are forced to pass through the painful process similarly high stresses due to being asked again and again to run towards the kicks and bites of the traumatised and frightened wild horse, putting the ridden horses in danger of being injured. </span></p><p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We request to State Ministers for Agriculture and Primary Industries and Federal Minister for Agriculture to immediately amend animal welfare legislation & stop catching and roping in events such as Brumby or Wild Horse Catch or similar events.</span></p><p> </p><p><em><strong>Marlen Agumga - Senior Manager at<a href="http://www.winkslondon.com"> http://www.winkslondon.com</a></strong></em></p>
