Currently in its tenth year, Herron High School is a catalyst for renewal for students, their families, and the community by serving as a successful model of urban, secondary education while strengthening and contributing to the vibrancy of Indianapolis. As a Classical, Liberal Arts high school, it is committed to advancing timeless ideas and content.

Herron High School has become one of the top public schools in the nation by almost any objective measure. In just the last few months, HHS has been recognized by The Washington Post, Newsweek, U.S. News and World Report, and the Indiana Department of Education. Community and education leaders look to Herron High School as a “gold standard” for excellence in education and have implored other schools to follow its path. In the last year, Herron High School has accomplished the following:

One of America’s most challenging schools- Washington Post

Four Star School- Indiana Department of Education

Top one percent of public high schools- US News and World Report

100% college/military acceptance rate for the most recent graduating class

99% graduation rate

94% student retention rate

The community has taken note: our enrollment has grown from a total of 98 students ten years ago to 763 students today. Now, demand from families far exceeds the number of students we can serve. We begin each school year with hundreds of families remaining on the waitlist. Due to this demand and Herron High School’s exemplary performance, there has been ongoing community pressure for the school to expand its model to a second school site.

The leadership of Herron High School (HHS) intends to open a new high school of equal quality and with the same Core Values as HHS with our proven model of success at the Heslar Naval Armory site in Indianapolis. The new school is projected to open in August of 2017 and will have an enrollment of 575 students in grades 9-12 at full capacity.

We need you to support our efforts to serve more kids. Your signature on this petition will go a long way in helping us with this endeavor!
