Keep GCRFC U-15 Girls Together

As a team, we (the u-15 GCRFC girls team) have had quite a bit of success. We were the first girls' Rangers team to win State Cup and progress to Region III President's Cup. At President's Cup, we were the only team in the whole tournament to play all three bracket play games without conceding a goal. We then became the only team from Alabama, boys and girls, to progress to the semi finals. We were also the second team ever from Alabama to make it to the semifinals.

This team isn't just successful though, we are also compatible. It is rare to find a girls' soccer team as close as we are. We are like a small family. This benefits us in numerous ways, both on and off the field. Our closeness allows for our continued success as we completely trust each other. Our coach even said, "Since day one you could sense these girls had the making of becoming a great TEAM. By team, I don't just mean the results we have seen, but the togetherness, friendships and bonds are much more than just the success. It's incredible to be a part of and is exactly the kind of environment myself and coach G want to create at this club." As beforehand mentioned, this bond we have is something that is rare to find, especially in girls' soccer.

Due to new club regulations, the way teams are seperated by age is being changed. It is no longer by age but by birth year. This wouldn't be a problem, but over half of the girls on our team were born in 2001 while the rest were born in 2000.

The point of this petition is not to ask the club to figure out a solution for this problem, but for them to consider the solution we have all come up with. Right now, we are playing 2000's teams in all our games and tournaments, therefore we have come to the conclusion that instead of splitting us up, we should create a 2000 team and pull the 2001 girls up to it. It wouldn't be changing the teams we play, and it would allow us all to continue to play together.
