<p>Let Our Children Go is a campaign looking to create legislation to free children and woman from sex slavery. Prostitution is one of the most extreme expressions of abusing the vulnerable in which a john preys upon the body of another. Prostitution is violence against another - not only against those directly involved, but against all of us, because the existence of prostitution means that all of us are potentially salable commodities. We currently recognize this in our legal system but the consequence for a john is small fine and a slap on the wrist. One such way of abolishing prostitution is to increase legal prosecution of the johns. Johns need to be highlighted as abusers and the perpetrators of the prostitution trade who enforce the enduring status of prostitutes and victims of violence.</p><p>The United States Department of Justice estimates that the number of minors caught up in sex trade in U.S.A is 293,000. One is enough for us to be concerned. It's time for us to petition to 'Let our Children Go!'</p><p>In 1999, the Swedish Parliament, in the first such action taken by any nation, approved a law that banned the purchase of sex. A decade later, similar laws were passed in Norway and Iceland. What has become the "Nordic Model" clearly states that the most numerous group in the prostitution trade, namely the johns, is responsible for criminal acts of exploitation. Abolitionists against buying sex see it as a normative law aiming to change attitudes and to reduce the demand for prostitution. Through the power of this law we will put an end to prostitution entirely, changing the minds and attitudes toward woman.</p><p>To change the law and attitudes of our culture it is going to take a grassroots movement involving abolitionists, activists, social workers, and politicians.
