Proposed Demolition of a Historic Property in the East River Road Historic District

Background: The Fuller House at 28589 East River Road is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, an official list of the Nation's historic places considered to be worthy of preservation. Built by Rathbun Fuller in 1923, the estate was called The Terraces. The two-story house, designed by Perrysburg architect George Rheinfrank, is of Italianate style constructed of mottled tan brick with stone trim. This large house along with its spacious grounds adds an interesting Mediterranean architectural mix among largely English-influenced styles popular at the time along East River Road. Rathbun Fuller, born in Toledo in 1857, was the son of Civil War General John W. Fuller. (More information about the house can be found here:

http://www.historicperrysburg.org/properties/28589ERiver.htm

Statement: The citizens of the Perrysburg area offer a warm welcome to the Fullewr Home owners; however, we believe that as they are currently stewards of this fine house, it is in the best interests of the entire Perrysburg Area Community to preserve the house and property, not only for itself but also for the significance of the Historic District. We urge them to preserve this historical treasure. We, the undersigned, urge him to abandon his plans for demolition of this historic property and suggest that alternate plans, such as improving while preserving the elegant architecture and grounds with appropriate renovations and additions, be considered.
