<p><strong><span id="E14">Petition:</span><span id="E15"> </span><span id="E16">To President Christine Boardman, SEIU Local 73</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>We the undersigned members of SEIU Local 73 call on our leadership to join with the working people of Chicago to demand the resignation of Mayor Rahm Emanuel.</p><p>Emanuel has been exposed in front of the whole world for covering up the murder of Laquan McDonald, a 17 year old high school student, shot 16 times by a racist police officer. Since then, his administration has been shown to have covered up other murders of young Blacks.</p><p>In addition to the cover up of the murder of Laquan McDonald, Emanuel has harmed the interests of Local 73 members. Too many of our members in Chicago Public Schools have lost their jobs through his cutbacks.</p><p>Emanuel has caused harm to the communities where our members live, by closing 50 schools, mainly in Black and Latino neighborhoods. He has caused harm to our children by refusing to provide social workers, libraries, and other programs in CPS that are basic parts of education.</p><p>Local 73 has a special responsibility to take this stand because statements and actions by our union have created the impression that our union supports Emanuel.</p><p id="E13"> </p><p id="E13"> </p><p id="E18"> </p><p> </p>
